26-02-2021 As a proud sponsor of the APS Norman F. Ramsey Prize, TOPTICA would like to congratulate the 2021 recipient Prof. Dmitry Budker, Professor of Physics, Johannes Gutenberg University and Section Leader, Helmholtz Institute Mainz, and Professor of Graduate School, University of California at Berkeley “for groundbreaking work in the precision spectroscopy of atoms and molecules“.

Established in 2016 by The American Physical Society (APS) the Norman F. Ramsey Prize recognizes outstanding accomplishment in AMO Physics (Atomic, Molecular and Optical) and Precision Tests of Fundamental Laws and Symmetries – both of which were fields that Ramsey himself excelled in. The prize is awarded with 10,000 US dollars and has been presented annually since 2017. Budker is honored for "his seminal work studying complex atoms, testing fundamental symmetries of nature, measuring electromagnetic fields, searching for exotic interactions, probing the nature of dark matter, and measuring nuclear magnetic resonance in ultralow fields."

TOPTICA Photonics is pleased to join in part with close family, friends and other industry partners as a main supporter of this award to honor Ramsey’s memory and his contributions to both the Precision Measurements and AMO communities. „Congratulations Prof. Budker”, stated CEO Mark A. Tolbert, “and thank you for your outstanding contributions to our community, it continues to be an honor to be a part of the Norman F. Ramsey Prize“.

This is the fourth year the prize will be awarded and presented during the Division of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (DAMOP) annual meeting in May 2021. Please join us in congratulating Prof. Budker for his hard work and contributions to the AMO community.

DAMOP 2021 will be a Virtual Meeting from May 31 - June 4, 2021
