Modular, narrow linewidth, tunable diode laser
The MDL pro brings the proven performance of the DL pro into a fully rack integrated format, ready for the demands of applied quantum technology. As part of TOPTICA’s compact laser systems, it is built for stable operation in advanced research setups and industrial quantum systems alike without adding unnecessary complexity. Its unique design covers almost every wavelength between 369 nm and 1770 nm, with up to 220 mW output power and free-running linewidths down to 0.6 kHz.
A fully digital controller keeps performance stable, while the intuitive GUI makes remote operation simple and convenient in complex rack environments where efficient control matters. As one of TOPTICA’s proven tunable external cavity diode lasers (EDCL), the MDL pro supports demanding quantum applications, from cooling and controlling atoms and ions to next-generation quantum computers, with the spectral precision expected from narrow linewidth lasers.

Saving space
The MDL pro combines up to four narrow-linewidth tunable diode lasers in a compact 19” sub-rack. These are based on TOPTICA's DL pro or DFB pro lasers.

Applications
Quantum computing & simulation
Lasers are used to realize most of the quantum systems used for quantum computing and simulation. Lasers are utilized to prepare quantum states, to realize quantum gates, and to read out qubits. In addition, lasers are used to link different quantum systems (e.g. to connect quantum computers or quantum computing subunits), a major task of quantum communication. Tunable diode lasers, fiber amplifiers, optical frequency combs, and wavelength meters, ideally combined in laser rack systems as complete solutions, are the most important products.
Quantum physics science

Options
Lock option for DLC pro
Software license that enables a number of features on a specific DLC pro. These allow to control the frequency of a laser for example by using a saturated absorption spectroscopy setup with a reference cell.
Locking and other electronics modules
For DLC pro, the versatile DLC pro LOCK option is available as well as FALC pro and PDH/DLC pro modules. With DLC ext a number of analog locking modules is available.
Motorization
Control coarse tuning via software interface. Available for most MDL pro configurations, with most AR laser diodes and some FP diodes. Not available for MDL pro F systems.
Narrow linewidth
With this option MDL pro laser systems are optimized for narrow linewidths. It is also suited for seed lasers of TA or NLO systems, but not for MDL pro HP lasers. MDL pro F lasers are always optimized for a narrow linewidth.
