About the TOPTICA Group
The TOPTICA group is headquartered in Graefelfing near Munich, Germany. From there, we’ve grown into a global family of photonics experts with further research and production hubs in Rochester, state New York, USA and Bordeaux, in the heart of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. Add to that a worldwide network of sales and service sites and partners, for instance TOPTICA Japan in Tokyo and Osaka, and TOPTICA China in Beijing and Shanghai. You’ll find TOPTICA with a strong presence at all photonics hotspots across the globe.
What do we do? We craft high-end lasers for scientific discovery and industrial innovation. From diode and fiber lasers to amplifiers and clever frequency mixing technology, we make the best photons.
As a group, we cover a larger part of the photonic value chain. It starts with designing our own laser diodes at TOPTICA EAGLEYARD, which has been part of the TOPTICA group since 2013. We build partnerships for crystals and fibers to ensure laser systems that work together seamlessly. Our activities extend all the way to ambitious projects, for example, creating artificial guide stars at TOPTICA PROJECTS for the world’s largest telescopes, and developing optical quantum clocks that can redefine time. The TOPTICA group can deliver photonics solutions from “rare earths to sodium stars”.

Fuelling the Quantum Revolution and Curing the Deadliest Diseases
Laser technology is driving innovations today and fuelling emerging markets of the future. Our customers use our technology to cure the deadliest diseases, push the boundaries of physics for the next generation of yet faster and smaller semiconductor chips, and build scalable solutions for the quantum revolution 2.0. In life sciences, our photons are shedding light on cells and neurons. They are indispensable tools in the efforts to defeat cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson's and other deadly diseases. Lasers are at the heart of modern microscopy, are used in neuroscience, and flow cytometry.
In the industry, we help push semicon metrology and lithography to its physical limits through highly coherent, compact and long lived laser sources. And when it comes to making the invisible visible, our lasers open new windows through terahertz imaging, spectroscopy, and inspection tools.
Quantum technology? This is the TOPTICA DNA since the founding of the company. From quantum computing and simulation to quantum sensing, atomic clocks, and quantum communication, TOPTICA lasers are the standard in the lab, but also in the industry. We have the precision laser technology required to drive the right atomic transitions, but also the capability to scale e.g. from one qubit to many.
It’s no coincidence that the world’s leading labs and many Nobel laureates trust our lasers. As our co-founder Wilhelm Kaenders likes to say: “A TOPTICA laser is not required for a Nobel prize, but it seems to help.” And we couldn’t be prouder that both researchers and industrial pioneers rely on us to make their breakthroughs possible.
