Bringing the best clocks in the world to society
The iqClock will be so precise that if you would have turned it on fourteen billion years ago when the universe came into existence, it still would be off by less than one second. Rafal Wilk from TOPTICA Photonics explains our TOPTICA’s part in this project: "We have developed a laser system, to slow down the atoms, catch them, keep them cool, and to read out optical clock transitions. We have developed a frequency comb, too, that will be used to keep all the lasers locked and to transfer the optical frequency stability down to radio frequencies". Together with twelve partners, all over Europe, we are united to bring quantum technology to the market and to the society. iqClock is one of 20 quantum technology projects of the European Commission's Quantum Flagship initiative.
