Pulse train calculations

This window helps translating between peak power, pulse energy and average cw power of pulse trains.
The calculations in the first section are related to a single gaussian, sech^2 or rectangular pulse. Pulse duration, peak power and pulse energy are directly related and by entering two of these quantities, the third is calculated.
The relation is:
The relation is:
- pulse_energy = FWHM_pulseduration * peak_power * shape_factor
with:
- shape_factor = 1 for rectangular pulses
- shape_factor = sqrt(Pi/4/ln(2)) for gaussian pulses
- shape_factor = 1/ln(1+sqrt(2)) for sech^2 pulses
In the second section properties of a pulse train, consisting of the above defined pulses, are calculated.
The following relations apply:
The following relations apply:
- repetition_rate = 1 /period
- duty_cycle = FWHM_pulseduration / period
- average_power = pulse_energy / period
