The miniMOT™ is a compact setup that includes a vacuum cell with vacuum pump, Rb dispenser, coils, electronics and optionally optics for creating an easy to setup magneto-optical trap (MOT). Magneto optical traps are used all around the world as key instruments for most cold atom experiments.
The miniMOT™ system is especially useful in education. It is ideal for student experiments, to let the students do experiments on a live MOT without having to go through the planning and maintenance of a normally highly complex experiment. The miniMOT™ is also perfectly suited for live public demonstrations to raise scientific interest and/or to apply for funding. As TOPTICA’s lasers, locking electronics and frequency references are ideally suited for use with any MOT, the combination of our components allows cooling and trapping of atoms within hours.

miniMOT™ Rb includes:

- Rb source (dispenser)
- Mounting structure for vacuum chamber
- Power supply and electronics to operate pump, dispenser and coils
- Coils assembly in Anti-Helmholtz configuration for magnetic field gradient
