The iScan from TOPTICA Photonics is a patented interferometer design for fast and precise frequency control of any tunable laser. The laser frequency can be scanned in any desired manner, including purely linear and step-wise frequency variations. In addition, the laser can be stabilized to any requested frequency, including 'off-resonant' values where no atomic or other reference is available.
Applications of the iScan include wavelength drift surveillance, optimization of tuning parameters and long term aging control of tunable lasers, phase-shifting interferometry as well as laser cooling, plasma monitoring and LIDAR seeding.
The iScan scheme lends itself to frequency control of semiconductor-based laser systems, fiber lasers, solid state lasers, dye lasers and frequency doubled laser systems. For operation, a weak probe beam (P ≤ 1 mW) is coupled into the interferometer via a standard single-mode fiber. A complementary software package enables hands-on control of the laser frequency via a standard PC. |
