The optical data storage industry is both driven by the developments of diode technology but at the same time is also pushing latest developments in diode technology. For example major diode wavelengths like 780 nm (CD), 650 nm (DVD) or 405 nm (BD/HD DVD) are commercially available at attractive prices and highest reliability only because of the demands of the optical data storage industry.
TOPTICA participates in this market actively since 1998 with many partner- and memberships and has since then successfully developed and sold many systems, which are dedicated for the optical media industry:
- static and dynamic testers for the development of optical media
- reference drives for the second and third generation of optical data storage
- laser systems for the mastering processes of DVD molds (based on 405 nm diodes) and BD/HD DVD molds (based on 375 nm diodes)
- laser systems for sophisticated lens (Blu-ray, HD DVD, DVD) inspection
