The lock-in regulator LIR 110 is a versatile tool for the scientific laboratory. It is designed for use with the laser system DL 100 and can be employed both for lock-in detection and for various controller tasks, e.g. stabilization of the laser wavelength to an atomic resonance line or to the transmission spectrum of a Fabry-Perot resonator. The LIR 110 comprises a modulation source (sine or sawtooth generator), a signal input buffer and subsequent input amplifier, a phase-sensitive detection unit and a PID regulator with "reset” mechanism. In a typical application, the oszillator source is used to modulate the laser frequency. The laser intensity is measured behind an absorber, and used to generate a frequency dependent signal. Thus, the laser can be locked to the maximum of the absorption line ("top-of-fringe stabilization”).

  • compensation of acoustic noise, mains jitter, etc.
