Low Noise Current Control Module:
DCC 110
Plug-in Module for Diode Laser Supply and
Monitor Unit DC 110 |

The operation of a diode laser in spectroscopic applications requires highly stable control of the laser's driver current. The current control DCC 110 meets this requirement. The design permits usage with both anode-grounded and cathode-grounded laser diodes. A BNC modulation input connector allows for external modulation of the laser current or output power. An additional BNC connector provides a signal for monitoring the internal photo diode current of a laser diode. Two versions of the DCC 110 are available, with output currents up to 500 mA, or up to 3 A for high-power diodes. |

- output current range 0... 500 mA (DCC 110/500 mA)
or 0... 3 A (DCC 110/3)
- coarse switch for range selection of output current in steps of 50 mA
- fine tuning of output current or optical power by precision trimmers
- stabilization of constant output current and output power
- operation of laser diodes / photo diodes in any combination of polarity
- calibration of the photo diode current IPD for optical power monitoring
- external modulation of output current up to 10 kHz
- low noise: < 3 µA (DC to 1 MHz, 500 mA version) and < 10 µA (3 A version)
- width: 12 HP (60 mm)
- control module optimized for operation of the grating stabilized diode laser DL100

Numerous protection circuits for the laser diode |
- low noise, linearly regulated power supplies, mains filtering within the power supply DC110
- double shielding of the case significantly reduces pick-up of ambient transients
- fast active protection circuits prevent the surpassing of the adjustable limits for output current and voltage
- monitoring by LEDs and acoustic error warning (also to a computer controlled system) in case preset limits are reached
- operation indicators (LEDs) at the control module and at the diode laser DL 100
- soft start/stop function slowly ramps up the laser diode current within a few ms, when the module is switched on or off
- power-up/down function of the DC 110 leads to controlled operation of the system, even when the mains supply fails
- relay protection of the laser diode after the module is switched off (pin short circuit prevents damage, when connector cable slips or during transport)
- sub-D9 connectors for laser and photo diode
- BNC connector for external modulation (DC to 100 kHz, HF coupling directly to the laser diode more than 1 GHz is possible via an optional Bias-T), input impedance 10 kW , transfer function: 100 mA / 1 V
- BNC monitor socket for displaying the internal photodiode current on an oscilloscope
- relevant output data to the Monitor Unit DC 110 are also available as analog signals: Iact, Iset, Imax, Umax, IPD
- computer control optional via analogue interface DCB 110 possible
