The APP J is an adjustable anamorphic prism pair especially designed to make diode laser beams with a variety of elliptical beam profiles circular.
The APP is a fixed solution for beams with a ratio of 1x3.
The elliptical beam profiles of diode lasers have to be made circular for many applications, e.g. for improvement of single mode fiber coupling or for mode matching to an external resonator. Anamorphic prism pairs can be used to make diode laser beams circular by expanding or compressing one axis of the elliptical beam profile. Unfortunately each kind of diode laser shows its individual elliptical axis ratio. Therefore, an adjustable prism pair is required to achieve accurate circular beams.
The APP J allows adjustment of both prisms inside the housing resulting in a variable magnification between 2 and 5, or in a variable compression between 0.5 and 0.2 of one axis of the elliptical beam profile. The result is a perfect circular beam for all kinds of diode lasers. In all cases the output beam remains parallel to the incident beam with a constant beam displacement of 8 mm.
For applications where an optimized circular beam is not required the fixed APP anamorphic prism pair can be used.
Both, the APP J and the APP, are provided with AR coatings to increase transmission. The versatile housings can easily be mounted to any standard mirror holder or to any standard posts.
